The Proposal - February 14, 2014

Justin proposed on Valentine's Day at the Rattlesnake Club in Detroit. At the end of a well-planned dinner with both of our parents, he had designed his own dessert menu that included "The Kellie Special" as one of the featured items. When Kellie realized that it wasn't just a coincidence that the restaurant had a dessert spelled the same exact way as her name, Justin got down on one knee and asked her to spend the rest of their lives together. Justin's dad captured the whole thing on camera, including Kellie's mom's surprised and ecstatic reaction :) The whole restaurant clapped and our families celebrated with tears, hugs, and champagne! Justin and Kellie left the next morning to spend the weekend in Chicago celebrating. It was a moment and weekend that neither of them will forget.

Liebster Award Nominee: Discover New Blogs!

Imagine my surprise the other day when I opened up my Instagram to find a tag nominating me and my blog for an award! Whaaaat?!?! You mean people actually pay attention and enjoy reading what I'm creating in my little corner of cyberspace? I love it. I'm flattered, excited, and so happy. My sweet friend & instafollower, Lo Renee, over at The Lo Renee Blog was nominated herself for the award (congrats girly!) and then nominated a few of her favorite new blogs to keep the chain going. The Liebster Award is made for bloggers, by bloggers, to nominate their favorite new blogs based on any or all of the following qualities (the word "Liebster" derived from German): dearest, sweetest, kindest, nicest, beloved, lovely, kind, pleasant, valued, cute, endearing, welcome, sweetheart. While I'd like to think I'm all of the above (haha totally kidding), thanks again to Lo Renee for thinking I was even any of those qualities! The nomination was much appreciated and now I am going to pay it forward!

So here's how it works. The Lo Renee Blog had to answer a series of questions that were given to her and then nominate her favorite bloggers for the award and provide them with a new set of questions. Here are my answers to what she wanted to know about me!

1. Why did you start blogging?
I love writing. I always have and it's always been one of those things I keep going back to when I'm not sure what I should be doing. I've attempted starting a blog several times in my life but something always happened and life always got too crazy somehow so they were never kept up enough for me to truly enjoy writing for them. Until I started this one. My journey so far with With Faith, Love, & Coffee has been incredible. It's been therapeutic for me to write about things that I love, so fun to meet other inspiring people out there, and just all around enjoyable.

2. What was the last movie, TV show, or book that made you cry or tear up?
My hubby had to help me out on this one-- we've been re-watching all the seasons of FRIENDS on Netflix... definitely when Ross & Rachel broke up the first time. Gets me every time.

3. What is something you learned in the last week?
I don't know if "learned" is really the best word for it because it's still in the process, but my husband and I started our first herb garden so we are in the "learning process" of finding out whether or not we are good parents to growing green things.

4. If you could go to lunch with any celebrity who would it be and why?
This one is easy- Ellen DeGeneres. Why? Because she is fricken hilarious and who wouldn't love to be out to lunch cracking up the entire time?

5. Shoes or purses?
Shoes. I pretty much only change purses maybe once or twice a year. I definitely have more shoes- flats and boots are my faves (me in heels = hilarity).

6. Three words that describe you:
Loving, funny (I hope), & nurturing.

7. How long does it take you to get ready?
Anywhere from 10 minutes to an hour. Depends on the day, occasion, if I'm showering, if I slept in past my alarm, if I'm not showering but probably should have, if I'm going on a date with my husband, if it was my first date with my husband (probably record time on this one), if I'm getting married (okay actually this probably took the longest to date), etc...

8. What is your favorite part about blogging?
See question 1 :)

9. What is your skincare routine in the mornings/night?
To be perfectly honest (and maybe gross to some people) I don't wash my face at night (unless I take a shower for some reason, but showers usually take place in the mornings). I know it sounds weird, but I found that when I washed my face twice a day, I was more prone to breakouts. So, face only gets washed in the mornings when I shower. How's that for low maintenance?

Phew. That took more thought than I thought it would! Thanks for keeping my mind sharp, Lo Renee! Alright, time for my set of questions for the fabulous bloggers I'm about to tag.....

1. Why did you start blogging?
2. What is your least favorite quality about yourself? Favorite?
3. What is your favorite childhood memory?
4. What is one material item you could not live without?
5. Who has inspired you most in life?
6. If you could spend the day with one male and one female celebrity, who would they be and why?
7. What does a typical Friday night look like for you?

DIY Bridesmaids' Bouquets

Another DIY project from my wedding day! I had a lot of girls standing up (9 to be exact), so I was really aiming to be budget-friendly but pretty and unique for their bouquets. I found the flowers (I used all fake ones for my wedding-- I wanted to be able to keep them afterwards as a keepsake and having real flowers weren't that big of a deal to me) at on sale. These were actually one of the first things I ordered, so a lot of my other wedding decor and color scheme were based off of these beauties. Again, all that was needed was a hot glue gun, some burlap/lace fabric and faux pearls from Hobby Lobby, and some TLC to make these look perfect. All of the girls were stunning and I'm so happy with how the bouquets added to their individual styles!

DIY Groomsmen Wedding Boutonniere

One of my favorite parts about planning my wedding was doing as many DIY projects as I could. I remember standing in Hobby Lobby with a vision in my head of exactly what I wanted my big day to look like, and I am so beyond pleased with how everything turned out. I am going to do a series of Wedding DIY projects to give you some ideas and inspiration for your big day!

All this project entailed was a hot glue gun, some twine, and time & patience. They were super simple to make and were a nice added detail on our special day ☺
